Wax Melts vs. Candles

Posted by L R on

Recently, I launched a new and exciting product to the Home Fragrance Collection on the site, Coconut Wax Melts! Wax Melts are a wonderful addition to this collection because it gives those who don't care for candles or can't use candles because of small children, a great option to fill their space with fragrance. They are a great addition to any office space, cafe, restroom or small business. The amazing thing about Wax melts is that the fragrance throw is much stronger than traditional candles, without using fire. For that reason, they are also considered a-lot safer than candles.

Here are some reasons to consider using wax melts:

1. No flame: Wax melts are traditionally heated using a wax burner (electric). Since wax mets are flame free, they are considered safer than candles.

2. Longer burn time than candles: Wax melts can burn for at least 5 hours compared to candles which should not burn more than 4 hours.

3. More Affordable than candles: Considering the burn time and the average retail price of wax melts ($7.00 for 1 wax melt vs. $20-$25 for 1 candle), they are super budget friendly.

4. Convenient: Wax melts are the perfect "set it and forget it" fragrance solution. Since there is no open flame to worry about, you can simply pop 1-2 cubes in your warmer and enjoy. With candles you must TRIM YOUR WICKS before every use!!!! Wax melts don't have wicks, so.......

5. You can control your fragrance: Since most wax melts comes in small cubes or cute little shapes, you can control how much scent you want. If after burning 1-2 cubes for a day, you need a little more, just simply add another cube.

6. Stronger Fragrance: When making candles, you are very limited to the amount of fragrance oil that can be added because there is an open flame involved. With wax melts, there is a-lot more freedom to increase the oil percentage, so therefore the maker has more wiggle room with the fragrance load.

7. No Soot: One of the best advantages of using wax melts, is that they don't produce any soot while burning. Soot is a common, annoying bi-product of candle burning. It's pretty hard to prevent and long exposer to soot can also negatively affect your health.

8. Safe for Kids & Pets: Since there is no open flame with wax melts, there is no possibility of a child or pet being burned by an open flame. The wax however is being warmed by a bulb, so wax burners should be keep out of reach of small children and pets.
